Just need to vent...

I know that economic time are "tough" but come on in the past several months I've applied to at least 30 different sale/cashier positions and nothing, I finally got a temporary position as a cashier not long ago but that only lasted 6 weeks for rush in the beginning of the semester. Now please know that was my first actual job where I got paid for my work, so yes I'm a 19 year old whose mother wanted her child to finish HS without working, and now I'm a sophomore in college and it's impossible for me to get a job. I've finally come to the conclusion that it's because of my name, people automatically think I don't speak English, which is a totally lie, I've known English almost all my life, and I can read, write and comprehend it better than the average American, and that just frustrates me even more.

I don't understand what's going on and I want to know if this is only happening to me? Has it happened to any of you, if so any tips in how to actually get a suitable job for a college student who pays for her own tuition?

… Sorry just had to vent, this as you can tell is what currently makes me upset …

Making soup...

Last Friday the 18th of September, my best friend, my brother and I went on a mini field trip to a place called H-Mart, and we bought ingredients to make a soup. What we made we decided to call Faux Pho because all it had all the ingredients of real Pho plus some extra ingredients that don't really go into Pho.

H-Mart is an asian food supermarket, where you can go by anything that is sold in Asia from squid to live and fresh fish to all of those sweets that you get plus the sauces that they use in Asian cuisine. Pho is a Vietnamese soup that consists of meatballs, rice noodles, green onion and a broth.

as you can tell from the story above, the soup that we made had additional ingredients that aren't found in Pho or any other soup that I'm aware of, however it did taste pretty good the only exception being that the noodles where extremely slippery and difficult to eat.

Unfortunately I didn't have a camera to get a picture of our Faux Pho or of the H-Mart storefront. However if you are interesting in knowing how to make Pho properly the recipe can be found here:

Or you can go to your local Pho restaurant and order the lovely dish there.
Enjoy!

Last night I went to see Ponyo, Hayao Miyazaki’s latest creation that he has presented to the world. We (My brother, his best friend and me) decided to go to the midnight show and it was great. Ponyo is the perfect children’s film that adult can also enjoy. As many of you know I a huge fan of Hayao Miyazaki’s films and love watching them over and over, and that means that I might just have to go watch it again because the story is amazing and the animation is great too.

As you can tell from the last few posts I’ve been watching a lot of films and writing my opinions, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have other things to do lol. For the past three days I helped in a Solarplate workshop at Open Press, Open Press is a fine art printmaking Facility owned and run by Mark Lunning. Website: http:// www.openpressltd.com/
And on top of that have my shift at the bookstore that I’m currently working at. Plus I’ve been reading and working on new piece of art on and off, entered a deviantART contest.

When I actually find the time to take the picture of the dress I finished about two weeks ago I will post an entry about that. Besides that everything is wonderful, went to Echo Lake here in Colorado with my mom and it was beautiful to see. Here is a panoramic view of the lake that I took. Hope you enjoyed :D

Grave of the Fireflies.

Today I saw the saddest film; it touched my heart and made one think about how valuable life is and how the people you love can disappear from your life forever. What made me watch Grave of the Fireflies was that it has been on my list of films that I’ve wanted to see for a long while and I’ve finally got the chance to get a hold of it and watch it. If you haven’t seen it and are interested I would defiantly recommend it even though it’s really sad to watch (I cried through half the film that is how touched I was by it). I can’t really say anything more about because everyone forms their own opinion and for this film you have to see it to actually get the full experience of what an amazing story it is.

Directed by Isao Takahata
Based off of Akiyuki Nosaka novel.
Release date: April 16, 1988
Released along side with Hayao Miyazaki's My Neighbor Tototro.
