It's all about that lovely snow...

Living in Denver you always get a ton of snow but never this frigid, so it may look nice but the truth is that its freezing. So put on layers and even though it's not officially winter the weather is telling use a different story.

As the white flakes fall,
I can see all of the lovely shapes that form.
I catch the crystals only to see them melt away
Before my eyes.
Why can't they stay forever,
Forming a wonderful snow covered land,
In which I can play in forever on the barren tundra.
Please take your time in melting away,
So that I can enjoy your beauty.

Paint...

As of late, I've been using Paint as a program to make pieces that are quiet simple. Today I just uploaded four more pieces (as seen below) and I absolutely love how they turned out. You can view the rest of the pieces in my Paint Series here as well as a large variety of my other work:

Just need to vent...

I know that economic time are "tough" but come on in the past several months I've applied to at least 30 different sale/cashier positions and nothing, I finally got a temporary position as a cashier not long ago but that only lasted 6 weeks for rush in the beginning of the semester. Now please know that was my first actual job where I got paid for my work, so yes I'm a 19 year old whose mother wanted her child to finish HS without working, and now I'm a sophomore in college and it's impossible for me to get a job. I've finally come to the conclusion that it's because of my name, people automatically think I don't speak English, which is a totally lie, I've known English almost all my life, and I can read, write and comprehend it better than the average American, and that just frustrates me even more.

I don't understand what's going on and I want to know if this is only happening to me? Has it happened to any of you, if so any tips in how to actually get a suitable job for a college student who pays for her own tuition?

… Sorry just had to vent, this as you can tell is what currently makes me upset …

Making soup...

Last Friday the 18th of September, my best friend, my brother and I went on a mini field trip to a place called H-Mart, and we bought ingredients to make a soup. What we made we decided to call Faux Pho because all it had all the ingredients of real Pho plus some extra ingredients that don't really go into Pho.

H-Mart is an asian food supermarket, where you can go by anything that is sold in Asia from squid to live and fresh fish to all of those sweets that you get plus the sauces that they use in Asian cuisine. Pho is a Vietnamese soup that consists of meatballs, rice noodles, green onion and a broth.

as you can tell from the story above, the soup that we made had additional ingredients that aren't found in Pho or any other soup that I'm aware of, however it did taste pretty good the only exception being that the noodles where extremely slippery and difficult to eat.

Unfortunately I didn't have a camera to get a picture of our Faux Pho or of the H-Mart storefront. However if you are interesting in knowing how to make Pho properly the recipe can be found here:

Or you can go to your local Pho restaurant and order the lovely dish there.
Enjoy!

Last night I went to see Ponyo, Hayao Miyazaki’s latest creation that he has presented to the world. We (My brother, his best friend and me) decided to go to the midnight show and it was great. Ponyo is the perfect children’s film that adult can also enjoy. As many of you know I a huge fan of Hayao Miyazaki’s films and love watching them over and over, and that means that I might just have to go watch it again because the story is amazing and the animation is great too.

As you can tell from the last few posts I’ve been watching a lot of films and writing my opinions, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have other things to do lol. For the past three days I helped in a Solarplate workshop at Open Press, Open Press is a fine art printmaking Facility owned and run by Mark Lunning. Website: http:// www.openpressltd.com/
And on top of that have my shift at the bookstore that I’m currently working at. Plus I’ve been reading and working on new piece of art on and off, entered a deviantART contest.

When I actually find the time to take the picture of the dress I finished about two weeks ago I will post an entry about that. Besides that everything is wonderful, went to Echo Lake here in Colorado with my mom and it was beautiful to see. Here is a panoramic view of the lake that I took. Hope you enjoyed :D

Grave of the Fireflies.

Today I saw the saddest film; it touched my heart and made one think about how valuable life is and how the people you love can disappear from your life forever. What made me watch Grave of the Fireflies was that it has been on my list of films that I’ve wanted to see for a long while and I’ve finally got the chance to get a hold of it and watch it. If you haven’t seen it and are interested I would defiantly recommend it even though it’s really sad to watch (I cried through half the film that is how touched I was by it). I can’t really say anything more about because everyone forms their own opinion and for this film you have to see it to actually get the full experience of what an amazing story it is.

Directed by Isao Takahata
Based off of Akiyuki Nosaka novel.
Release date: April 16, 1988
Released along side with Hayao Miyazaki's My Neighbor Tototro.

I've been wondering for a time now why some things are so addicting, because currently my current addiction is AriZone Green Tea with Ginseng and Honey. (that picture makes me laugh every time I see it and you can kind of tell why). OMG it is one of best tasting things in the world hence why you can see why I'm addicted to drinking it at every chance I get. The only downside to this however is that it makes you want to pee a lot more, lol, but at least you are left feeling very hydrated. Plus the can is oh so pretty with that lovely combination of light green and pink :D.

Here are some other things that I'm addicted to:

Keane, chocolate, cheese, drawing, walking, makers and the REM cycle when I sleep lol. I know how can I be addicted to REM sleep, well I'm one of those people who remember all of the dreams that I've had and I can't get enough of them because they are all so amazing and adventurous.

Ok, so today was also my first actual day off where I had no school no nothing lol. I saw two films one of them being Millennium Actress by Satoshi Kon. I cried in the end, great film if you haven't seen it please do it is simply amazing. The other was actual three sort films put together to make up Memories which is presented to the world by Katsuhiro Otomo. Besides that I got laundry done and I started a new project which I really excited about. Here are the amazing covers for these two films:

What is my new project you may ask, well I'm making a new dress and I'm super psyched about how it is going to turn out because it's made out of left overs from a different project. When I'm finished I'll definitely post pictures. I'll be finished in about a day, which I've got to say is on of the fastest sewing projects I've done, because I don't have a sewing machine meaning I sew everything by hand, but no worries I've saved up enough to go get a sewing machine and I haven't found the time to go look, plus I need to get a zipper for it tomorrow at Hobby Lobby or something.

I'm going to post a little hint at what color it is going to be, lol:

As you can see it's going to be a pretty brightly colored dress, but since you don't know how much fabric I have it can either be a mini dress or a ankle length dress, so that is going to left a mystery. Might even throw in some other colors if I feel like it.

Have a great day.

The Story of the Keane Dress!

Ok for a while I've wanted to post the dress that I made for the May 13th 2009 Keane Performance that I went to and really enjoyed. For starters it was my 1st Keane show and I've been a fan since 2004. Up until July of 2009 I kind of didn't keep track of what was going on with the band, to be honest I would check their website every other month and I wasn't as active a member of the forums. When the band did update their website, it was in time for their third upcoming album Perfect Symmetry; that is to say I was excited to hear something new (even though I love all three albums a lot).

So when the time came for them to announce the North America Tour dates, I was psyched because I was going to make sure that I would see them no matter what it took. Well my mother knew that I was obsessed with Keane, but didn't really know how obsessed I was until the announcement of the release of the third album. So she agreed to buy me tickets to the show and now she loves listening to them. I know she is my mother, but I don't like the fact that she likes them, sorry but now her singing along to their songs annoys me. If you don't understand what I mean about this here is a brief example:

Say that you really like a certain musical group and you've liked them for a long time, and you’re not sure if you should let your family, in my case my mother, listen to them mostly because you fear that they will become more obsessed than you and that they will always think that they are the ones who discovered the group on their own, while knowing full well that it was you who has been a fan for a longer period of time.

I KEPT MY OBSESSION WITH KEANE AWAY FROM MY MOTHER FOR 4 YEARS. <<<---- This actually amazed my brother that I'd been a fan since the way beginning, and his awe-struck face was only more proof that I indeed did amaze him to this news.

Anyways, back to the story about the Keane dress:

Anyways my mother bought three tickets, one Hot Seat package (for me) and two extras for my brother and a third person (my mother ended up going as the third person). This was back in mid-March when we purchased tickets and that is when I told myself that I would make something for this significant event (well at least to me is was huge). So I drew up a design and from there it went flying. The original design however was a dark blue color not a cool gray. I went with gray after I was given 4 yards of the material and was told I could keep the rest after I'd made a sash for a client, the 4 yards were taken as payment. I finally started to make the dress on the 1st of May, I know really late. I however did finish it in time alongside with school and finals coming up.

As you can tell from the album cover of Perfect Symmetry most of the triangles are the primary colors: red, blue and yellow. Those are the colors used for the halter of the dress, the three colors are braided together and tie in the back of the neck. As you can somewhat see in the photo with me and Tom Chaplin, I'm wearing the dress and I could have asked them to sign it but that's why I got a Keane shirt, lol.

So this is the story of the gray dress that I really like wearing sometimes when I'm alone. I met Tim, Tom, Richard and even Jesse in the dress and I will never forget that night because I was an amazing show and I can't wait for the next time when I get to see Keane perform live again (hopefully in the near future). I think it’s amazing when you meet the people that inspire you, well that's what my reaction, pure amazement, I know I now sound like a dork by say that, lol. If you are interested in learning more about Keane you can visit their official website @ http://www.keanemusic.com/ . and if you ask me to this day what my favorite Keane song, my response might take a while because I love all of the songs and it sometimes depends on where I am and what I'm doing, but the songs that did get me into listening and interested in Keane was Somewhere Only We Know and Everybody's Changing. Have a nice day! :D

When boredom hits you...

... I usually create art. These six piece where done during my ISMG class in paint.
This is the not order they were created in. Had tons of fun with the circle tool and the spray paint tool in paint. Really like the effects that I got in the first two. The order is reversed here, so the ones at the top are the ones a made last while the ones on the bottom are the ones that I made first. Will be posting these creations on deviantART as well, so you'll be able to see them there too! As you can tell I first had the desire of drawing stuff and filling it with color, then that progressed to making shapes and filling those shapes get filled and then just a totally random experiment with the spray tool. If you ever need to pass the time I suggest trying to make something in paint.

Title's of the pieces is as follows (from top to bottom):

1.spraypainttool2
2.spraypainttool1
3.circles and a few squares
4.minicircle
5.here comes the sun ...
6. LOBSTER!!!

As you can tell from the titles, they are just what they represent. I love it when someone asks where I came up with the title of a certain piece, because half the time it's just named for what the content of the piece is. Other times however there is a story behind the piece which I sometimes either include within the piece or type it up separately. Otherwise I think I'd have a lot of "Untitled 'insert desire number here'" pieces. I love when songs are untitled because than you as the listener gets to choose a title for it that you will call the song. Plus making up titles isn't as easy as it seems. Well enough of my discussion on titles and why people name certain pieces something, I'm now boring you. Look at the pieces and leave me a comment on which one you like the best. Remember the one on the bottom are the ones I made first and then it progressed to the pieces on top. Have a Nice Day! :D
